ShareCost can notify you when something happens in your groups: a new expense, a payment, a dispute, a comment or a new member. You choose which kinds you want.
Allow notifications
After your first sign-in the app shows Stay in the Loop and asks you to Enable Notifications. If you chose Maybe Later, the notification inbox shows a banner Push Notifications Disabled with Enable in Settings, which takes you to the phone's settings for ShareCost.
Choose what you receive
- Open the Profile tab, tap Settings, then Notification Preferences.
- Push Notifications under Master Control switches everything on or off. With it off, the individual switches are disabled (Enable push notifications above to customize individual types).
- Switch each type as you like:
- Expense Notifications: New Expenses, Expense Updates, Expense Deletions.
- Settlement Notifications: Settlements You Make, Settlements You Receive.
- Dispute Notifications: Disputes on Your Expenses, Disputes Resolved, Disputes Rejected.
- Social Notifications: Members Joining, Members Leaving, Comments.
- Other: Reminders about unsettled balances, with Minimum Amount for Reminders (Only remind me when I owe at least this amount).
- Marketing: Tips & Offers.
Changes are saved automatically and sync across all your devices.
Good to know
- Settlements You Make sends you a confirmation of your own payments; the other types concern actions by other members.
- The reminder threshold is in your default currency.
- If you get no notifications although everything is on, check that ShareCost is allowed to notify in the phone's settings and that the phone is not in a do-not-disturb mode.
- Notifications also arrive in the in-app inbox, see Use the notification center.
Web
The web app shows the same notifications in its inbox but has no preference page. Change the switches in the mobile app; they apply to your account.
