If you are paid on the 15th, a "month" of spending that runs from the 15th to the 14th is more useful than a calendar month. ShareCost lets you choose when your week and your month start. Filters, exports and statistics then follow that choice.
Change the start days
- Open the Profile tab and tap Settings.
- Scroll to Periods.
- Start of week: keep Automatic (…), which follows your phone's region, or pick a day.
- Start of month: pick Day …, for example your payday. The screen shows the resulting Current month: ….
Changes are saved immediately and sync to your other devices.
Where the setting is used
- The Calendar presets in expense filters (This week, This month, Last month, This year), see Search and filter expenses.
- The Date Range presets in CSV export, see Export expenses to a CSV file.
- The periods in My Statistics and the group Stats tab, see View your spending statistics.
Good to know
- Group budgets have their own start day, set by the group admin: Group budgets have their own start day in the group settings. Your personal setting is only suggested as a default when a budget is created, see Set a group budget.
- The setting is personal. Other members of your groups keep their own periods.
- The Last presets (7 days, 30 days, 3 months) are rolling windows and ignore the start days.
Web
The web app follows the same personal month start in its statistics ranges and expense filters. The setting itself is changed in the mobile app.
