Every group has an invite code. Anyone with the code (or the matching link or QR code) can join the group with their own ShareCost account.
Share the invite link
- Open the group and go to the Members tab.
- Tap Add Member, then Invite with App.
- The Invite Members sheet shows a QR code. Tap Share Invite Link and pick an app such as WhatsApp, Messages or e-mail. The message contains a link that opens ShareCost and the invite code to type in by hand.
- People nearby can simply scan the QR code with their phone camera.
Right after you create a group the same sheet appears automatically.
Copy or renew the code
- Open the group, tap the gear icon to open Group Settings and scroll to Invite Code.
- Current Code shows the code. Tap it to copy (Tap to copy).
- Admins can tap Regenerate Code. The app warns: The old invite code will stop working. Anyone with the old code won't be able to join. Use this if the code has leaked.
Good to know
- Invite codes do not expire and have no usage limit. A group can hold up to 50 members.
- Only admins can regenerate the code. If the group shows This group has no active invite code, ask an admin to generate one in Group Settings.
- People without the app can be added as virtual members instead, see Add a virtual member for someone without the app.
- What the invited person has to do is described in Join a group with an invite code or QR code.
Web
- Open the group. The header shows the invite code; click it to copy (Copy invite code).
- Admins see Regenerate invite code next to it. If the group has no code yet, admins see a Generate Invite Code button.
- Send the code to the other person. They enter it on their Dashboard or open the invite link.
Sharing via QR code is available in the mobile app only.
