Join a group with an invite code or QR code

To join a group you need an invite from a member: a link, an 8-character invite code or a QR code. You must be signed in to join.

Join with a link

1. Tap the invite link you received. ShareCost opens and asks Do you want to join the group with code …?
2. Tap Join. The app shows Joining group… while it downloads the group's history, then You have successfully joined ….

Join with a code

1. Open the Groups tab, tap + and choose Join Group. If you have no groups yet, tap Join a Group on the welcome screen.
2. Type the code into Invite Code and tap Join Group.

Join with a QR code

1. In the Join Group sheet, tap the scan action to open Scan QR Code.
2. Point the camera at the QR code shown on the other person's phone. The code is read automatically and you are asked to confirm.

You can also scan the QR code with your phone's camera app; the link it contains opens ShareCost.

Troubleshooting

• Invalid invite code: check for typos; codes are letters and digits only.
• This invite code has expired or This invite code has reached its usage limit: the admin has to generate a new code in Group Settings.
• This group is full (max 50 members): the group cannot take more members.
• You're already a member of this group: open it from the Groups tab.
• This group no longer exists: the group was deleted.

Web

1. Open the invite link in your browser, or paste the code into Enter invite code... on the Dashboard and press Enter.
2. If you are not signed in, sign in first; the web app then continues with the join.
3. You see Joining group... and then Joined successfully! before the group opens.
