Biometric authentication keeps other people out of your expense data when they pick up your unlocked phone. Once enabled, ShareCost asks for your face or fingerprint after it has been in the background for a while.
Turn it on
- Open the Profile tab and tap Edit Profile.
- Under Security, switch on Biometric Authentication.
- The phone asks you to authenticate once as a test (Test biometric authentication). After success you see Biometric authentication successful! and the switch stays on.
Your phone must already have Face ID, Touch ID or a fingerprint set up. Otherwise the app says No biometric credentials enrolled. Please set up Face ID, Touch ID, or Fingerprint in your device settings.
What happens afterwards
When you return to ShareCost after about five minutes in the background, the Secure Access screen appears (Please authenticate to access your ShareCost data). Tap Authenticate and use your face or fingerprint. If that fails, use Use Passcode to enter the phone's passcode.
Turn it off
Open Edit Profile and switch off Biometric Authentication. The lock screen notes: You can disable biometric authentication in app settings.
Good to know
- The setting is per device. Enable it separately on each phone or tablet you use.
- It does not replace your account sign-in. You still sign in with your e-mail, magic link or social account.
- If the phone reports Biometric hardware not available, the device has no supported sensor.
Web
The web app has no biometric lock. Sign out when you leave a shared computer.
