Quick Scan photographs receipts and reads the merchant, amount, date and a suggested category for you. Each scanned receipt can become an expense with one tap. This feature is in the iOS and Android apps.
Scan receipts
- On Home, tap Quick Scan. You need at least one group (Please create or join a group before scanning receipts.).
- Photograph each receipt. The counter shows Captured: …/10; a session holds up to 10 photos (Maximum 10 photos per session). You can also add images with Gallery or Files.
- Tap Done. The Scanned Receipts screen shows each receipt as Uploading receipt…, then Processing OCR…, then with the detected merchant, amount and date.
Turn a receipt into an expense
On a finished receipt card:
- Tap Create expense to open the expense form pre-filled with amount, merchant, date and category. Review the split and save.
- If the receipt has line items (… items detected), tap Smart Split to assign items to people, see Split a receipt by items with Smart Split. Create expense (skip splitting) skips that step.
Used receipts disappear from the list automatically; the screen is empty when it says No Unused Receipts.
Delete or retry
- Delete a receipt from its card (Delete Receipt, cannot be undone).
- If reading failed (Processing Failed), tap Retry Scan.
Good to know
- Processing happens online. A receipt photographed without connection waits and is processed when you are back online.
- Check the detected amount before saving; faded or crumpled receipts can be misread. The date falls back to Unknown date when it cannot be read.
- The camera needs permission (Camera Permission Denied: allow it in the phone settings).
- The first time, a short tutorial explains Quick Scan and Smart Split. You can reopen it from the Scanned Receipts screen.
